President Zuma stopped by the Durban July on Saturday at Greyville Racecourse for a quick meet and greet during the evening.

Zuma made a quick appearance in the Mabala Noise marquee at the event to deliver an impromptu 5-minute speech.

During the speech Zuma expressed great disappointment over the cold weather, citing that many fashion lovers couldn’t dress up like previous years when the weather is known for being warm and sunny.

Zuma added that the horse racing event was a great tourist attraction for the province of KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa as a whole.

“Thank you very much all for coming. It always makes firstly Durban to look very good, secondly for KwaZulu-Natal to look good and thirdly look South Africa looks good. Today it’s just an unfortunate history of the weather that we are faced with climate change. Normally on this day, it is sunny, it is nice, it is warm and to us who belong here, humid and wonderful. And therefore for those abandl’ ukotini can shine, because the weather agree. Unfortunately, today the weather is not friendly.”

“This is a day to be happy. Where you come to see abadl’ ukotini just the way you like it. You can be playful with fashion choice. I thought I should came here and to just greet you guys.”

He said that he was happy to be part of the young people who came to the event and used the opportunity to campaign for the coming local municipal elections.

“Durban July is known for people overspending money on alcohol and designer clothing, Zuma said he would’ve preferred to have such exorbitant amounts of money to be spent on the party coffers but is happy because it is going towards the province.”

“I’m sure many of you are going to sleep here, because you must spend money when you are here. It’s just that if you were putting the money coffers of the ANC, then I would be very happy, so that we can spend it,” he said.

“It is great to greet you guys on a happy note and on a not so serious note,” He concluded

After the speech Zuma took photos with some onlookers, including with Khanyi Mbau who was in attendance at the event.
